About isometric grid paper
Isometric grid paper uses three evenly spaced families of parallel lines, oriented at 30°, 90°, and 150° to form a repeating triangular pattern. The three directions help sketch objects with a consistent 3D perspective while keeping the page flat and printable.
Common uses
Use isometric paper for box and product sketches, technical drawing, room or object layouts, game maps, diagrams, and visual planning. The grid provides a guide for edges in three directions without adding labels or axes.
Isometric presets
Fine · 2 mm gives a dense guide for detailed sketches. Standard · 5 mm balances detail and writing room. Large · 10 mm gives open cells for bigger drawings. Engineering Isometric · 5 mm adds heavier lines at regular intervals and increases line thickness for clearer subdivisions.
Customize isometric paper
Select a spacing preset, then adjust grid spacing, line thickness, line color, margins, page size, and portrait or landscape orientation. Changes remain editable after applying a preset. The preview preserves the chosen page's aspect ratio.
Printing instructions
Download the PDF and select the matching page size in your print dialog. Choose Actual size or 100% scale if you want the document's spacing preserved; printer scaling and printable margins can affect the physical output. SVG is also available as a vector download. PNG export is not present in the current generator.
Frequently asked questions
What makes an isometric grid different from square grid paper?
Isometric paper has three line directions that form triangular cells; square grid paper has horizontal and vertical lines that form square or rectangular cells.
Which isometric preset should I choose?
Use Fine for detailed work, Standard for general sketching, Large for open drawings, or Engineering Isometric for repeating heavier guides.
Can I change line thickness and color?
Yes. The isometric editor includes controls for line thickness and color, as well as spacing, margins, page size, and orientation.
Does the grid include axes or coordinate labels?
No. It is a three-direction drawing grid without axes or coordinate labels.
How do I keep the spacing when printing?
Download the PDF, choose its matching page size, and print at Actual size or 100%. Printer scaling can change the physical result.
